Assalamu Alaikum (peace be upon you),

Rutgers-Newark MSA leads a grassroots effort aiming to make a difference in the lives of orphans around the world. Through your neighborhood MSA and 4-star world-renowned charity Islamic Relief, your few dollars and the rest of us together can fully sponsor a few orphans for months and months, inshallah!

The setup is rather simple. Each week at our MSA meetings (Mondays at 11:30, location vary…ing) there will be an orphan donation box set up and we’ll each try and throw in our modest donations, however little or big it may be. You, along with the the rest of the MSA family and others, will play a full part in securing food, water, clothing, medical, and scholastic support for the orphans around the world. 100 percent of proceeds go directly to aiding the lives of the orphans. Every week the donation box will be there, perhaps you know a family member or a friend who would like to take advantage of this glorious opportunity for good deeds and dramatic worldwide influence in the lives of the poor, who would willingly give you their modest portion of money to be donated at the MSA meetings.

CURRENT GOAL: Collectively sponsor an orphan for a full year currently living in Africa, Asia, and Europe. We’re still awaiting word on the orphan situation in Antarctica; perhaps a penguin or two.

GET INVOLVED WHEREVER YOU MAY BE: Want to join our simple yet ambitious campaign? The list is growing and we’ll be posting information here on various local MSA’s and high schools as well as contact information of those spearheading the project at your respective university, high school, or community center. Please check back for updates.

The Prophet (Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam) said, “I and the person who looks after an orphan and provides for him, will be in Paradise like this,” putting his index and middle fingers together. (Sahih Al-Bukhari, Vol. 8 Hadith No. 34)

“And whatsoever you spend of anything (in the cause of Allaah), He will replace it. He is the Best of those who grants sustenance.” [Quran 34:39]
